Conference venue

The conference takes place in the main building of the Humboldt University which is located in the heart of Berlin, on the city's most famous historic street Unter den Linden. It is next to the famous Maxim Gorki Theater and opposite to the German State Opera House. The Museum Island and the TV tower are just across a bridge and the Brandenburg Gate is a ten-minute walk up Unter den Linden. The conference venue itself is an officially recognized historical monument. Please note that smoking is not allowed in any part of the building.

Transportation

Stops closest to the HU Berlin building:
- S-Bahn: "S+U Friedrichstrasse" (lines S5, S7, S75, S1, S2, S25)
- U-Bahn: "U Französische Strasse", "S+U Friedrichstrasse" (line U6)
- Bus: "Staatsoper" (lines 100, 200)
- Tram:"Universitätstrasse" (lines 12, M1)

How to arrive from Tegel Airport:
- Bus line TXL to "S+U Hauptbahnhof", Berlin's main train station
- take any S-Bahn from platform 15 (top level) for one stop to "S+U Friedrichstrasse"
- ~10 minutes walk

* or by a taxi (for about 20-25€)

How to arrive from Schönefeld Airport:
- via direct train (RE7 or RB24) to "S+U Friedrichstrasse" or
 take S-Bahn line S9 to "S Ostkreuz" and change at Ostkreuz to S5, S7 or S75 to "S+U Friedrichstrasse"
- ~10 minutes walk

* or by a taxi (for about 40-45€) 

Location

Registration will be taking place in Audimax in the main building. There will be signs, as well as ACL personell to help to find it. It is reachable both from the main entrance (Unter den Linden 6) as well as from Dorotheenstrasse (which is more convenient if you are coming from S+U Friedrichstrasse, the NH hotel, or the Maritim Hotel).

The main conference and the tutorials will be taking place in the main building, at Unter den Linden 6.

The workshops will be taking place in the main building or at Dorotheenstrasse 24 which is about 2 minutes walking distance from the main building (see workshop schedule).

The Student Recruitment Lunch and the poster sessions of the main conference will take place at the Maritim proArte Hotel in Berlin which is about 5 minutes walking distance from the main building.

Internet Access

Each participant will get a slip of paper with a username and a password at the registration. With these credentials you can use the guest WiFi network of the university which is called "HU-Meeting". However, we strongly encourage people who have Eduroam accounts to use one of the two Eduroam networks available in the venue. The login credentials and procedure are the same as in your home institution.

There will also be free WiFi available during the poster sessions at the Maritim Hotel. 

Food and Beverages

There will be 2 coffee breaks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. For lunch, we recommend one of the many restaurants, cafes, and fast food places located around the conference venue. You can find an extensive list of those in the conference booklet.

Important: There is a cafeteria in the venue but it is accessible only to students and university staff who have a special card. Cash payments are not possible. Please, do not try to buy food and beverages there.
