Tian’anmen Square locates in the very center of Beijing city and becomes one of the largest city squares in the world. This square gets the name from the main gate of royal palace standing at the northern side. In Chinese, Tian means Heaven, An means Safety or Peace and Men means Gate, in combination, these three words turn into the meaning - the Gate of Heavenly Peace. Now the whole square covers 440,000 m2 and can hold one million people for important occasions.

Forbidden City, situating right behind Tian'anmen Square, serves as political center and living quarter of 24 emperors of both Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. As being the largest royal palace in the world, the Forbidden City was turned into Palace Museum where hundreds and thousands of Chinese cultural treasures and historical relics are being displayed.

The Temple of Heaven, situated in southeastern urban of Beijing, was constructed from 1406 to 1420 by the order of the Emperor Yongle (1359-1424). In ancient China, unanimously, every single Emperor declared himself as the Son of Heaven, who administered earthly matters on behalf of, and representing, heavenly authority. In order to show respect to the source of his authority, sacrifices and report to heaven plus prayers for good harvests were extremely necessary and important.
