A message from your local organising chairs

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Sydney, Australia, for this exciting event.
This is only the third time in their 40+ year histories that Coling and ACL, the two peak international conferences on computational linguistics, natural language processing and language technology, have been combined. And it’s also their first time in the southern hemisphere, so what better place to host the conference than Australia’s exciting and vibrant city, Sydney?

We are very pleased to be able to host Coling/ACL 2006 in the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, right on Sydney’s breathtaking harbour. We will be organising social activities to take advantage of this location and give you a sense for this wonderful city. We hope you will enjoy both the technical aspects of this conference, with its rich main programme and its full set of tutorials and workshops, and also the many attractions that Sydney and Australia offer.
