NAACL 2013: Call for Tutorial Proposals

Proposals are invited for the Tutorial Program of the 2013 Conference of the North American Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics: Human Language Technologies (NAACL HLT 2013). The main conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 09-15, 2013. The tutorials are scheduled for Sunday, June 9, 2013.

NAACL 2013 seeks proposals for tutorials on all topics of computational linguistics, including, but not limited to, the following areas:

• Phonology and Morphology, Word Segmentation
• Syntax, Tagging, Chunking and Parsing
• Semantics
• Multimodal Natural Language Processing
• Discourse, Dialogue, and Pragmatics
• Linguistic aspects of CL
• Summarization
• Generation
• Machine Learning for Language Processing
• Machine Translation
• Information Retrieval and Question Answering
• Information Extraction
• Spoken Language Processing
• Sentiment Analysis and Opinion Mining
• NLP-enabled Technology
• Document Categorization / Topic Clustering
• Social Media Analysis and Processing
• Language Resources and Evaluation Methods

Tutorial instructors are paid based on the ACL Tutorial Teacher Payment Policy, see http://aclweb.org/adminwiki/index.php?title=Tutorial_teacher_payment_policy. Please note that this does not cover registration fees for the main conference.

SUBMISSION DETAILS

Proposals for tutorials should contain:

1. A title and brief description of the tutorial content and its relevance to the ACL community (not more than 2 pages).
2. A brief outline of the tutorial structure showing that the tutorial's core content can be covered in a three-hour slot (including a coffee break). If appropriate, tutorials spanning two (morning and afternoon) 3-hour slots will be considered as well.
3. The names, affiliations and email addresses of the tutorial instructors, including a one-paragraph statement of their research interests and areas of expertise.
4. A list of previous venues and approximate audience sizes, if the same or a similar tutorial has been given elsewhere; otherwise an estimate of the audience size.
5. A description of special requirements for technical equipment (e.g., internet access).

TUTORIAL SPEAKER RESPONSIBILITIES

Accepted tutorial speakers will be notified by Wednesday, February 6, 2013, and must then provide abstracts of their tutorials for inclusion in the conference registration material by Wednesday, March 27, 2013. The description should be in two formats: an ASCII version that can be included in email announcements and published on the conference web site, and a PDF version for inclusion in the electronic proceedings (detailed instructions will be given).
